One Man: Two Cars, Two Accidents, Six Hours

Middletown Police say a Town Colony Drive resident drove the same woman's Dodge and Chevrolet, causing two separate car crashes in one day.

A 49-year-old city man is facing charges in connection with two motor vehicle accidents in two separate cars on the same day, say.

On Feb. 9 at 5:17 p.m., Timothy A. Williams, 49, of Town Colony Drive was driving a Dodge Caliber on Saybrook Road near Tryon Street and did a U-turn, police say, cutting off a Honda Civic in the northbound lane of Saybrook Road, then struck a Audi A6.

Williams drove away, the report says, and both other drivers and two witnesses confirmed events and gave officers a license plate number. At 11:20 pm., police were called to another accident on East Street when a parked car was hit by a Chevrolet Malibu that took off. Police say one woman owns both cars.

The second car accident victim said he talked to the driver who appeared to be very intoxicated, the report says. Williams admitted to driving the Caliber at 5 p.m. and made a U–turn to get home; he said he hit the parked car with his Malibu later but “it was just an accident,” the report says. The owner confirmed Williams is going to alcohol rehabilitiation in a couple weeks.

He was charged with evading responsibility, failure to obey a traffic signal, and failure to signal properly.
