UPDATE: Student Hit by Car at Middletown High Now Stable

Middletown Police say a 15-year-old boy was hit by while buses were driving students home for the day.

The 15-year-old student struck a car this afternoon at Middletown High School is now in stable condition at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, police say. 

A second student, 16, had minor injuries after falling to the ground to avoid being struck by the car. The juvenile was sent to Middlesex Hospital for precaution and police say there is no indication the juvenile was struck by the car.

A 15-year-old Middletown High School student is in serious condition at Hartford Hospital after police say he was hit by a car as buses driving students home for the day.

On Tuesday at 2:09 p.m., a serious motor vehicle collision took place on LaRosa Lane, the road used by students walking home from school.

Police say a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Brian Bomely, 52, of Middletown, was driving east in the left lane on LaRosa, when a student crossed between two school buses driving in the right travel lane and into the path of the car.

The teen was sent to Hartford Hospital for injuries. Bomely reported no injuries, police say.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Officer David Godwin of the Traffic Unit (860) 344-3264.

I believe I was always told not to walk out between cars, you would think that all children are told this. And especially when there is high traffic like that going on. I do hope this child is okay and hope that others will learn from this mistake.

Gail, what they failed to mention is that this child was severely bullied at MHS. There were a handful of witnesses that saw him get PUSHED in front of the car. Bulling has been an issue for the school since I was a student. They need to take more action. That sort of thing can affect a kid for the rest of his or her life.
