PD: Man Told Officers He'd Spotted UFO in City

Middletown Police say a 22-year-old resident pulled in on an outstanding warrant admitted to a heroin addiction — and asked if anyone had reported a UFO recently.

OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE, FAILURE TO HAVE LIGHTS LIT — On March 8 at 10:06 p.m., Matthew Ramsdell, 22 of Grove Beach Road, Westbrook, was driving on East Main Street without taillights. His license was suspended since Oct. 22.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATE UNREGISTERED VEHICLE — On March 8 at 8:29 p.m., Michael R. Weed, 28, of Stanley Street, New Britain, was driving on Main Street Extension by CVS with a canceled registration.

CREDIT CARD THEFT— On March 8, Paul A. Schmitz, 51, of Crystal Lake Road turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant.

OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE — On March 8 at 5:04 p.m., Damion Lindo, 32, of Ferry Street was driving an Infinity on Rapallo Avenue without a front plate displayed and dark tinted windows. He was stopped on Grand Street by police.

VIOLATION PROTECTIVE ORDER — On March 8 at 10:15 a.m., Rochelle B. Massaro, 41, of Main Street, Clinton, was picked up by a State Police Troop F with an outstanding Middletown warrant.

CONSPIRACY — On March 6, Colby C. Mandile, 23, of Pine Street turned himself in on an active warrant.

FAILURE TO OBEY CONTROL SIGNAL, FAILURE TO CARRY INSURANCE, OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE — On March 6 at 11:32 a.m., Anthony C. Gaetano, 54, of LaBella Circle was driving a Chevrolet Impala on Church and Broad streets with a license suspended March 7, 2011. The woman passenger owned the car.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — On March 6 at 1:15 p.m., Tracey L. Bell, 36, of Wakefield Circle, East Hartford, turned herself in on an active warrant.

SECOND-DEGREE BURGLARY, VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER, INTERFERING WITH OFFICER — On March 6 at 9:11 p.m., Joshua Montanez, 18, of Park Street, Hartford, was at a Russell Street apartment when police were notified he was unwanted, but had left the scene. A woman told police she found an ashtray knocked over in her bedroom, heard knocking coming from her closet; opened it and found Montanez sitting inside. She went to her sister’s apartment, the report says, for safety; her sister when to the victim’s apartment, yelling was heard, police say, and Montanez ran away.

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — On March 6, Brendan Spada, 22, of Margarite Road turned himself into police on an outstanding warrant. Police say Spada told them about his heroin addiction during booking while scratching his arms and asked if there were any recent UFO reports in Middletown because he had seen one the day before, the report says.

FAILURE TO CARRY INSURANCE, EVADING RESPONSIBILITY, FAILURE TO DRIVE AT REASONABLE DISTANCE, ILLEGAL OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION — On March 5 at 10:20 a.m., police Benjamin P. Keegan, 24, of Chamberlain Hill Road, Higganum, while driving a pickup truck, caused a car accident at 180 Main Street Extension by rear ending a woman stopped for a UPS truck. He fled the scene, the report says. A witness confirmed the story and relayed the license plate number. Police went to Keegan’s house and found the car parked outside with front-end damage. He told officers he was following the woman to close to stop and fled because his license is suspended as of Nov. 23.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN REGISTRATION IS SUSPENDED — On March 4 at 4:45 p.m., Gail Francis, 45, of Santangelo Circle was driving on Church Street. She told police she was unaware the registration was suspended.

OPERATE MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE, INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, IMPROPER USE MARKER PLATE — On March 2, Ann M. Lindz, 28, of Atlantic Boulevard, Jacksonville, Fla., was driving on Route 66 near Jackson Street without a front license plate; the back belonged on another car. Her Connecticut drivers license was suspended Aug. 18, 2010.

OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF OUNCE OF MARIJUANA, AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA WITH LESS THAN HALF OUNCE OF MARIJUANA — On Feb. 23, Alexis M. Nieves, 24, of Saybrook Road was driving on Washington Street with the front license plate inside the windshield, a broken driver’s side mirror and license suspended May 25, police say. Police found 7.5 grams of marijuana in a bag inside the passenger side door; Nieves admitted it was hers. They also found a 1g blunt in the ashtray and a five-pack of Dutch Masters Cigars. A passenger handed over two freshly rolled marijuana joints weighing .5g.
